Dangers and Effects of Gum Infection
The effects of gum disease and gum infection are inevitable. Tooth cavities, bad breath and eventual loss of tooth as one of the most common. Gum infection does not only affect the dental heath. Gum infection increases the risk of cardiovascular diseases such as heart attack and stroke.
Gingivitis is the earliest and the mildest form of gum infection. Plaque is the primary cause of gum infection, it is the sticky film of bacteria that coats the teeth. Excessive accumulation of plaque causes irritation resulting to gum infection and inflammation. Serious periodontal disease will occur when plaque spreads its way to below the gums causing pockets of infection.
Regular brushing and flossing of teeth and use of natural mouth rinse is on way of eliminating plaque. However, it may be not enough to remove plaque in between the teeth and gumline and in the hard to reach areas of the mouth, it takes the power tools of your dentist to completely remove them thus making your regular dental visits as an essential part of oral health care.
